The Municipality of Cesena’s Environmental Department hosted a “Walk and Talk” event along the Savio River on 25 September, in collaboration with the EU-funded RIWET project and the University of Bologna.
The initiative was part of the public-private participatory process of RIWET, but it also involved partners from the RISE-IN programme. The event brought together local stakeholders, residents, and was held by experts from local and regional institutions to guide the discussion through three main topics: environmental protection, hydraulic security and the relationship between citizens and the river.
Participants highlighted a common goal: to preserve the biodiversity and natural character of the Savio River, while enhancing the accessibility, safety, and enjoyment of its surrounding areas for the community. The event fostered dialogue on balancing environmental conservation with public use, encouraging active participation in protecting the river’s ecosystem.
The Municipality of Cesena emphasised that initiatives such as this play a crucial role in promoting awareness of local natural heritage and in shaping policies that combine ecological preservation and hydraulic security with community engagement.
