RISE-IN partner Centro do Clima has launched a community activity titled “O Rio Alto Que Eu Conheci” (The Rio Alto I Knew), inviting residents to rediscover and share memories of Rio Alto.

Do you remember what Rio Alto was like in the past? The eel fishing, the Easter picnics in Carrasqueira, the people who shaped that river? Through this initiative, Centro do Clima encourages the community to revisit these moments by opening family albums and sharing old photographs that tell the story of Rio Alto, its landscapes, its people, and its unique moments.

Participants are invited to share photographs on social media using the hashtag #ORioAltoQueEuConheci, tagging @CentrodoClima or the Parish Councils of Estela, Aguçadoura or Laúndos. Along with each photograph, contributors are asked to include a short memory describing who is in the picture, what was happening, and why it matters to them.

For those who do not use social media, photographs can be sent by email to Centro do Clima or taken to the nearest Parish Council to be digitised and shared.

Contributors are reminded to identify the author or owner of the photograph to ensure proper credit is given. At the end of the initiative, a poster will be created featuring a selection of the images and memories shared.

Each photograph is a piece of history. Together, the community will rebuild the memory of Rio Alto!

Photographs can be shared until 17 April 2026.
